ABOUT US:
Shri Shivayogi Murughendra Swamiji Arts, Science and Commerce College Athani is a Unit of Karnataka Lingayt Education Society (K.L.E. Society) Department of Physical Education was established in 1968. It is affiliated to Rani Channamma University in 2010 it was created by upgrading Kittu Rani Channamma post graduate centre at Belagavi which was established by the Karnatak University, Dharwad in 1982. And is unique education institution that represents the academic and sports cultural character of KLE Society. Our department has well equipped play ground with modern instruments to assist in quality skill teaching with spacious 400mts track, Basketball Court, Handball Court, Volleyball Court, Kho-Kho Court, Kabaddi Court, Throw ball Court, Cricket Pitch, and well equipped gymnasium, indoor Four Badminton wooden Courts, modern well equipped gym, meritorious Sports persons are given merit seats in our college and a opportunity to participate at various tournaments. Our students gain rich experience in officiating and conducting various intramural competitions to development of personality of the students. It contributes to physical efficiency, mental alertness, team spirit, leadership and obedience to rules with development of a number of skills, abilities and attitudes for leading a healthy lifestyle. It inculcates values like cooperation, respect to others, loyalty, self-confidence, winning with grace and losing with hopes. Apart from our college sports students also engage themselves in co- and- extra curriculum activities from the academics.

MISSION:
To provide best of the sports facilities and physical fitness with latest equipments, modern amenities and attractive ambience to students.
OBJECTIVES:
- To develop motor abilities like: strength, speed, endurance, coordination, flexibility, agility and balance as they are important aspects for good performance in different games and sports.
- To develop techniques and tactics involved in organised physical activities, games and sports.
- To acquire knowledge about human body as it’s functioning in influenced by physical activities.
- To develop socio-psychological aspects like control of emotions, balanced behaviour, development of leadership qualities and team sprits through participation in games and sports.
- To develop positive health related fitness habits.
