About Us
The Political Science Department was established in June 1968 and initially offered as a minor subject alongside History as the major subject until the academic year 1991-92. Over time, Political Science gained equal importance and is now taught alongside History, Economics, and Sociology.
The department has evolved with significant academic reforms:
- The semester system was introduced by Karnataka University, Dharwad in 2005.
- From 2010-11, the college became affiliated with Rani Channamma University, Belagavi.
- In 2020-21, the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) was implemented for B.A. first-semester students under Rani Channamma University.
- From 2021-22, the National Education Policy (NEP) was introduced for B.A. first-semester students, bringing a new academic framework to enhance learning outcomes.
Our department remains committed to academic excellence, critical thinking, and political awareness, equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to engage meaningfully in society.
